Marvellous Monday
There was a large turnout for the Marvellous Monday Afternoon in both the supervised and duplicate sections. A session of duplicate or supervised bridge followed by nibbles and another quiz by John Nelson in the social area. All sponsored by Aspire Wealth Advisors with the platters of food put together by Jacqui Ecclestone, Prue Hart and Sylvia Bray. The quiz lived up to expectations with some excellent questions. The winning quiz team included Michael Workman & Annette Crane with a staggeringly good score.
The three sections of duplicate players were scored “across the field” to get one winner in each direction. Coming first North/South was Hilary & Terrence Heptinstall; and East/West was Marie Sheriden & Beverley Hunt.
In the Supervised Group, first North/South was Jenny Hansberry & Chris Pawley, and East/West was Chris Black & Graham Smith.
Mark Doust, the director for the day, was busier than normal with the large field but no doubt still glowing from his weekend success in the Western Seniors with John McMullen.
Prizes during the session : (1) the first person to make a doubled contract; and winning the last trick of a hand with a card of the same rank as your table number (before and after the tea break); and winning the last trick with the diamond seven (beer card) - if declarer you had to make the contract, if defending you had to beat the contract. Surprisingly the diamond seven won the last trick at table sevn!
